Jerry Byrd from 1978
I did some work for a fellow who included a cassette recording of JB in the box that the pickup came in.
I don’t know anything about it other than the year it was recorded … but it’s fun to listen to …

I’m guessing outside the little motel in Winchester, IN at the Aloha International convention …

Great playing by Jerry (as expected) but also a rock solid rhythm section ! Thanks for sharing, Rick !

Only thing wrong with this is it's too short. Thanks Rick

Re: Jerry Byrd from 1978
Bumping to second Andrew’s question… First are a few hot passes of Manuela Boy, but does anyone recognise that pretty second tune?
EDIT: I think it’s Paniau by Helen Beamer? Writer of Kawohikukapulani and Kimo Hula, both of which Jerry played beautifully…

Re: Jerry Byrd from 1978
Lol, listening to Jerry adjust tuning between songs just tickles me.
Beautiful music, talking + nails on a chalkboard, back to Beautiful music. lol.
It's funny how the old timers used to do that. I suppose they had no other choice because they didn't have silent tuners.
Thank goodness for clip on tuners.
Makes me think about what it was like for the steel players on Hawaii Calls Radio Show, and Alfred Apaka's Tapa Room Broadcasts. They probably had to tune really quick and as accurate as possible so they didn't distract from the announcer in between songs. Most likely why double and triple necks exist.
