Hey everyone. Brand new member. I’m an experienced musician playing piano guitar banjo and just purchased a BMI 12 string universal tuning, single neck pedal steel guitar. I sent it down to Arkansas and the BMI guys rebuilt it for me. (Thanks Don). One of my music friends gave me his Father’s entire 12 book series (absent book one) of the Jeff Newman lesson series complete with the records. All of the books are sealed in plastic bags. As I’m sure you all know these books came with a record with backing track. But it might surprise some of you to find out that I do not have a record player anymore. So I’m wondering, does anybody have these backing tracks in MP3 files or some other type of audio file?
Not to bore you with any of my personal details, but I recently retired from Yamaha Music corporation as the national sales manager of their audio, guitar, synthesizer, and piano music divisions. I own a Yamaha Genos keyboard and have recorded, using MIDI technology, some basic rhythm section backing tracks using 1-4-5, 1-6-2-5 and 1-2m-4-5 chord progressions to match his tabs…so am getting by. But I would like to know what Mr. Newman felt was important for his syllabus in his lesson program. Does anybody have any thoughts on this?

Re: Jeff Newman lesson books
Hi Bob,
If you have the records take them to an audio/video person and have them transferred to a file you can use. Jeff's instructional material is a very good learning source, quite a few of them are on you tube and he plays the backing tracks during his instruction which may also be helpful to you. Good luck.
Billy.
